Second Annual Stanford Pan-Asian Music Festival
February 11-18, 2006
which this year will focus on the musical traditions of South Asia.
The festival will feature events with:
A.R. Rahman, India's foremost film composer of music
Salman Ahmad, of the rock band, Junoon
Kartik Seshadri, sitar maestro
Farid Ayaz Qawwali Ensemble from Pakistan
Sanjay Subrahmanyam, Carnatic vocalist
Stanford Symphony Orchestra, under conductor Jindong Cai
as well as a conference on "Sufi Music: South Asian Qawwali and
Debates on Music in Islam."
